Christian Apuzzo leads most sessions. He is a Brooklyn-based vocalist, guitarist, and music educator. Long Island-raised, this musician started his journey as a certified public school music teacher but has since found the wide-open pastures of the freelance music world in NYC. Playing mostly folk, bluegrass, and country music, Christian plays with numerous groups all over our five boroughs including bluegrass group Cole Quest and the City Pickers and local supergroup the Grass Messengers. He also teaches music lessons and classes for all ages at Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Every 3rd Sunday of the month until January 1, 2024
12-2:15pm
https://www.meetup.com/brooklyn-traditional-slow-jam/events/
The medium speed jam is back! Let’s pick up the pace! Our medium session is leveling up! Join us for a faster-paced challenge and more of a traditional session feel. We'll gather in the space, request and lead tunes, and try to string tunes together so we play more. We want this session to function as bridge between the slow jam and sessions "in the wild."
The goals of this session will be: Learn new tunes by ear, Practice calling/starting the next tune while playing, Increase our repertoire to include more sets, Feel how tunes link together (or don't!), Bring our tempo closer to "dance speed", and Increase comfort with a session atmosphere where players are asked to start sets and/or contribute
You'll still have support from our leaders, but this will be a more collaborative session than before. It's a safe space to try new things or you're welcome to just come along for the ride! There will be some familiar tunes and many new ones. Tunes won't always be called in advance, although we'll try to shout out the key. We'll post the tunes played in the event comments.
